Nellie Mae Scholarship Scuttle 5K Slated for April 2 in Denver's Washington Park
The Race is Presented by the University of Denver Sturm College of Law Student Bar Association to help law students pay off student debt.
Denver-area runners are invited to participate in the second-annual Nellie Mae Scholarship Scuttle 5K, presented by the University of Denver Sturm College of Law Student Bar Association. The event's Title Sponsor is Nellie Mae, a top originator of student loans and leader in helping students manage their debt and understand the responsibilities of borrowing.
Four hundred adult and children runners and walkers are expected to turn out for the race, which is slated to get underway at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 2 in Denver's Washington Park. Following the 5K race, the event will offer a Kids Sprint race, an awards ceremony and lunch. This USATF-certified course is a Bolder Boulder qualifier. Coming Soon: Information on how to sign up at: www.law.du.edu⁄sba.
Proceeds from the race will primarily benefit Sturm College of Law's Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP), which enables students to accept and remain in public interest positions by helping to pay for law school debt.
"Nellie Mae is pleased to bring this event to the Denver community, and support an organization dedicated to helping students pursue their true passions beyond law school," said John Marcus, president, Nellie Mae. "As an organization dedicated to providing financial literacy programs that help students manage their debt and prepare for a sound financial future, Nellie Mae hopes that the funds raised will allow Denver University law graduates to contribute to communities that are typically underprivileged and unable to afford legal services, regardless of their salary."
