Lake County Legal Advice Clinic

In 2013, the Northwest Colorado Legal Services Project (“NCLSP”) initiated a Legal Advice Clinic to serve residents of Lake County.   NCLSP will conduct the clinics on the third Wednesday of each month from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

Skype™ is free software that allows users to communicate by voice and video over the Internet. As a result, volunteer attorneys can remain in their offices and attend the clinics by Skype™ through their computers, tablets or mobile devices.  Attorneys will be able to see and hear applicants during the consultations.  If needed, the CDBA will assist attorneys with Skype™ set up. In the alternative, attorneys can also of course participate in person for the Clinic.

NCLSP will ask clinic attendees to apply in advance, so that all information is ready for volunteer attorneys on the day of the clinic.  Applicants are pre-screened to ensure that they qualify for pro bono services.  Attorneys will receive an email prior to each clinic with: (1) names of applicants and adverse parties so you can run a conflict check; and (2) the number of scheduled appointments so you’ll have a better idea of your time commitment. Any necessary case documents will be emailed or faxed to the attorney.  Each applicant is scheduled for a half-hour appointment; a maximum of six applicants can be seen at each clinic.

The Clinic schedule is at the bottom of this page. If you are an attorney and want to volunteer to help Clinic attendees, please submit the form below.
