Robert A. Holmes is a partner in the Denver law firm of Holme Roberts & Owen LLP, where he is the head of the firm’s real estate practice group. His practice focuses on all aspects of the development, financing, leasing, and purchase and sale of commercial real estate, as well as the restructure, workout, and foreclosure of loans. Mr. Holmes is a member of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, and is listed in Chambers USA and The Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Holmes has spoken at a number of educational seminars and written articles on topics including buying and selling commercial real estate, financing real estate, loan documentation, foreclosures, workouts and receiverships, leasing real estate, and common interest communities. Mr. Holmes served as a member of the Section Council of the Real Estate Law and Titles Section of the Colorado Bar Association and served as the Section Council’s chairperson in 1990-91. He has also served on several committees for the Colorado Bar Association in real estate-related areas. Mr. Holmes was on the subcommittee of the Real Estate Section reviewing and revising the existing public trustee foreclosure statutes, resulting in SB 109 in 1990 and on similar committees since then, including those involving HB 1387 in 2006 and HB 1157 in 2007. Mr. Holmes received his master’s degree in engineering from Georgia Tech and his J.D. degree from the University of Denver in 1979.
