“Law Beat,” an occasional lunch at the Denver Press Club, put together by Rocky Mountain News reporter John Ensslin and the DBA’s Diane Hartman, met on Wednesday, Jan. 28, to discuss media coverage of People v. Bryant. Some of the 30 people attending included Denver D.A. Bill Ritter; DU Law Professor Karen Steinhauser; defense attorneys Dan Recht and Pat Ridley; former D.A. Norm Early; Denver Post reporter Steve Lipsher; Rocky Mountain News reporters John Ensslin and Charlie Brennan; Fox TV reporter Carol McKinley; Colorado Press Association Executive Director Ed Otte and Colorado Press Association lawyer Steve Zansberg; State Judicial spokesperson Karen Salaz; and New York Daily News reporter Dan Luzzader.
Fred Brown, former political editor of The Denver Post, moderated. The discussion was lively (much heat, even some light) and could have gone on for many hours. |
