Thanks to all who participated in
the KIND Toothbrush Drive 2004!

By teaming with Kids in Need of Dentistry, the DBA Community Action Network collected toothbrushes and other dental supplies for underprivileged and uninsured children in the Denver Metro area during the week of Feb. 9–13. Last year, the Denver legal community contributed more than 1,000 toothbrushes to the drive. This year, they have quadrupled that number!

Roll Out the Barrels

April 12–16It’s almost time for the fifth annual "Roll Out the Barrels Food Drive" for the Food Bank of the Rockies.

The Denver Bar Association’s CAN committee will drop off a barrel at your firm or office. Just fill it with non-perishable food items (or cash donations) and the committee will pick it up.

Please let Kari Brandt know if you would like to participate this year by e-mailing kbrandt@cobar.org.

We’ll also continue the donation competition by firm size (1-20, 21-60, 61-100, 101-150 and 151+ employees).

 

Save the date! The DBA Annual Party with free food and drink is Wednesday, June 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the Denver Art Museum. Details to follow.

 

Last Minute Reminder!
DBA Seniors Courthouse Tour

On April 9, DBA members “65 or better” are invited on a tour of the new federal court house building, 901 19th St., in Denver.
Interested members should meet in the Jury Assembly Room at 1:30 p.m. for the free tour. Seniors who would like to meet for an informal lunch can go to the Embassy Suites Hotel, 1881 Curtis, at noon, where there will be a buffet.

Law Day Activities

DBA YLD Annual Meeting and Law Day Lunch with Judge Matsch at Denver Athletic Club

The Young Lawyers Division of the Denver Bar Association, in support of Law Week 2004, and celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education, is going to be hosting its Annual Meeting at the Denver Athletic Club on April 27, 2004. Speakers will be Judge Richard P. Matsch of the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado and Rico Munn, member of the Colorado State Board of Education, First Congressional District, discussing Brown v. Board and its effect on Colorado. Cost is $25.

Law on the Mall, May 3–11

A number of groups are helping out with this week-long event: Colorado Hispanic Bar Association, DBA Board of Trustees, Colorado Women’s Bar Association, DBA Young Lawyers Division, DBA Community Action Network and the Paralegal Committee.

Each day, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., attorneys and paralegals will be at Writer’s Square on the 16th St. Mall offering information and materials to the public.

It’s sponsored by DBA Legal Services.

DBA YLD Sponsors Law Line 9, May 5

Join attorneys in providing legal information on general legal issues to callers on May 5th, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Brian Popp at brian.popp@bpbllc.com or call (303) 329-9700.

Legal Night at the Center

Legal Night at the Center is the third Tuesday of each month (April 20 this month), from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at El Centro Bienestar.
Attorneys and paralegals provide legal information to the community about ethics, landlord/tenant, and immigration issues. There is a need for bilingual (Spanish-speaking) attorneys to help out. Even if you can’t make it on the 20th, send your contact information along so you can participate in the future.
