Christmas in January It’s time to plan for Christmas in January, a DBA YLD annual event that provides holiday gifts and a party for 400 Denver-area foster children. This holiday festivity will be held Jan. 18, 2003, at Denver Human Services, and the YLD needs your help. Donations and volunteers are needed for this fun day. Help your client get a tax write-off before the year-end, or start the new year with a bang by asking them to donate clearance items, over-stocked inventory or slow-moving merchandise! Committee meetings will be held the second Monday of each month at the DBA offices, 1900 Grant St., Ste. 900, at 6 p.m. Please join us on Monday, Nov. 12. Just Desserts Nov. 8 Fine baking awaits you at the DBA Community Action Network’s Dessert Auction to benefit Work Options for Women. Attorneys, staff and restaurants will donate desserts. Taste them all, but the highest bidder gets to take home their own culinary treasure. Beer and wine are complimentary. The cost is $5 per ticket ($10 at the door) and tax-free donations are welcome. Send your check, payable to WOW, to 1900 Grant St., Ste. 900, Denver, CO 80203, along with your name and e-mail address. An e-mail ticket will be sent to you to bring to the event. WOW teaches women skills to use in the workplace and in life. The auction will be held Nov. 8, 5-7:30 p.m., at The Pinnacle Club, 555 17th St., 37th Floor.

Court Orientation, Nov. 22 Court Orientation is an all-day program for recently admitted and not-so-new attorneys wanting to learn more about the rules and procedures of domestic relations, civil cases, and the Denver District and County Courts, sponsored by the DBA and DBA YLD. Judges will also give tips about their courtrooms. The program is from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Jury Assembly Room in the Denver City and County Building, 1437 Bannock. The cost is $35 to DBA members, or $45 for non-members, payable to the Denver Bar Association. CLE credits have been applied for. Return the form below to register, or R.S.V.P. to lunches@cobar.org.
