High School Mock Trials Thank you to everyone who volunteered at and contributed to this year's high school mock trial competitions. The trials were an intense learning experience for all and a huge success. Doherty High School of Colorado Springs won the state tournament on March 10 and will advance to the national competition in Nebraska on May 10-13. Congratulations!
Celebration of Excellence The 3rd Annual Celebration of Excellence is June 14, from 6-8 p.m. at the Tivoli Center on the Auraria Campus. The Celebration of Excellence is a graduation ceremony and reception to honor Colorado foster children who have overcome tremendous odds to graduate from high school or earn a GED. Bench Bar Retreat The DBA Bench Bar Retreat, sponsored by the DBA Judicial Administration Committee, drew nearly 100 participants on March 3 at the Inverness Hotel. This year's topic was "Retreat to the Future: A Retrospective on Future Technology in the Law" and included privacy, technology and protection in a high tech world.

YLD Day in Court, June 22 This half-day program, sponsored by the DBA YLD, focuses on basic civil trial techniques including conducting cross-examinations, laying a foundation for and admitting documents, and impeaching witnesses with prior statements. Respected judges and civil litigators will present the featured seminars. The program is at the City and County Building, 1437 Bannock, on June 22 from 1-5 p.m. Four cles have been applied for. YLD Annual Ethics Luncheon, May 21 "Meet the Judges" on May 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the DBA YLD Annual Luncheon. Colorado Supreme Court Justice Michael Bender, Denver County Court Presiding Judge Raymond Satter and John Gleason of the Office of Attorney Regulation will present "Tips from the Bench" about professionalism and ethics. The lunch is at the Denver Athletic Club, 1325 Glenarm Place and two cle credits have been applied for. The cost is $25, or $30 at the door. Please see the registration form below. Come to the
MDA Lock-Up On March 8, the Muscular Dystrophy Association presented the DBA with an award for the Young Lawyers Division's participation in the Annual MDA lock-up, a jail-and-bail program to raise funds for muscular dystrophy. The young lawyers raised $57,105, topping last year's earnings.
