Even the Mayor is Joining the Festivities
The Denver Bar Association helped guide West Middle School across the Denver City and County Building, April 4–13. More than 450 students learned about local government, law, enforcement, jury civic duties and the local judicial system. Special thanks to Mayor Hickenlooper, City Council Member Kathleen MacKenzie, Hon. Brian T. Campbell, Hon. Anne Mansfield, and Hon. John N. McMullen who took the time to talk to the groups of students. A group of dedicated attorney and paralegal volunteers also helped make these tours possible: Darla Benford, Karen Best, Treasa Burke, Bob Carney, Jim Carr, Kwali Farbes, Pat Finley, Janet Frickey, Fred Long, Elsa Martinez Tenreiro, Melody Mirbaba, Marshall Snider, Laura Tighe, Ralph Torres, Louis Underbakke, Todd Walker, Daniel Walter and Adam Weins.

Nellie Mae Scholarship Scuttle
The Nellie Mae Scholarship Scuttle 5K Run/Walk and Kids’ Sprint took place April 2 at Washington Park. The net proceeds of the event will benefit the Loan Repayment Assistance Program, the Bobbie Lou Mae White Scholarship Fund, and other student-created scholarships. The Bobbie Lou Mae White Scholarship Fund benefits second-and third-year law students who plan to pursue a position in criminal prosecution upon graduation. All proceeds will be used to enable recent DU Law grads to pursue legal employment in the public interest arena. The scholarship scuttle raised about $8,500.
Pictured at left Chad and Rosemary Biggerstaff made the scholarship scuttle a family affair by including their children Alexa, Victoria, Gianna, and Ross.
