Trials of the Century is Dec. 8, 2006, 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m. Todd Winegar, one of America’s highest rated CLE speakers will teach from experience. He uses film footage, re-creations, and verbatim trial transcripts in this unique program. Learn from the master! Tuition is $169 for Litigation Section members; $209 for CBA members; and $249 for non-members. Seven general credits, including 1.5 ethics.

Litigation Conference for Attorneys & CPAs: Learn the current trends and latest issues is Dec. 14, 8:25 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Attorneys and CPAs will learn the current trends and latest issues. Several amazing speakers will cover lost profits damage measurements, case law update, hot topics/ask the experts panel, what attorneys and accountants should know about Generally Accepted Accounting Principles AAP in valuations service, cross examination-demonstrative evidence and goodwill hunting. Tuition is $199 for Litigation Section members; $199 for the CPA Society; $209 for CBA members; and $229 for non-members. Eight general credits.

2006 Annual Tort Law Update is Dec. 21, 8:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m. Seven topics, experts in their specialties, a convenient morning-only program — all you need to update your knowledge about some of the latest issues in tort law. Learn about today’s issues in medical malpractice, construing the Colorado Consumer Protection Act, nursing home litigation, products liability, construction defects, premise risks and legal malpractice. Tuition is $109 for Litigation Section members; $129 for CBA members; and $149 for non-members. Four general credits; including .6 ethics credits.


DBA Nominating Committee

The DBA Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for 2007–2008 DBA leadership positions, including president-elect, first and second vice presidents, three for the Board of Trustees, and 11 for the CBA Board of Governors. Nominate an Outstanding Lawyer

The DBA Awards Committee, chaired by past-president Bill Walters, seeks nominations for four awards. The DBA Award of Merit recognizes outstanding contributions made by a DBA member to the DBA and the profession. Volunteer Lawyer of the Year honors a DBA member who has performed extraordinary voluntary legal or community service. Young Lawyer of the Year honors a member of the DBA who is under 37 or has been practicing law less than three years, and has made outstanding contributions to the community and the interests of young lawyers in the Denver metro area. Judicial Excellence honors a DBA member of the judiciary for extraordinary service or exceptional contributions to the improvement of the judicial system. Please submit a brief statement (e-mail preferred) with the name, award, and summary of why that person deserves the honor. Brighten the Holidays for Orphans

Three downtown Denver law firms — Sherman and Howard, The Harris Law Firm, and Bachus and Schanker — have joined forces to sponsor a holiday party for The Adoption Exchange, a charitable organization in Denver that works to place foster children in permanent adoptive homes. To get the 187 children and their sponsors to the mansion, the three firms are sponsoring bus transportation and gift bags for the children. Juvenile Justice and Mentoring Program

North American Indian Legal Services, Inc. is a nonprofit that offers attorney services and mentoring for youth involved in the juvenile justice system or who are at risk of becoming involved.
