Best and Worst Trial Tactics: Straight Talk from the Judges is Feb. 7, 8:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m. This is a unique program, co-sponsored by the Colorado Judicial Institute, just for trial lawyers to hear directly from the judges. Topics have been intentionally selected to address the most important issues pertaining to pre-trial, trial and appeals. You will learn the most effective tactics to use, and also what to avoid. You won’t want to miss this entertaining and information-packed program. Tuition is $149 for CBA Litigation Section members; $179 for CBA members; and $199 for non-members. Four general credits requested.

Ethics in Negotiation and Mediation is Feb. 15, 8:55 a.m. –noon; co-sponsored by the CBA Alternative Dispute Resolution Section. Join them for an insightful and timely presentation on ethical issues by O. Russel Murray, followed by a panel discussion among a distinguished group of ADR professionals and litigators. This program explores the boundaries of "accepted conventions," "puffing and bluffing," zealous advocacy, and other ethical concerns in mediation and negotiation. Tuition is $149 for CBA members and $179 for non-members. Three general credits, and three ethics credits requested.

Get Organized and Get Things Done: Practical Time Management for Lawyers is Feb. 22, 9 a.m.–12:15 p.m. or 1:15–4:30 p.m. Presented by national speaker Irwin Karp. Learn how to take control of your workload, manage your busy schedule, focus on priorities, meet deadlines with less stress and make your workday more productive. Tuition is $129 for CBA members and $159 for non-members. Four general credits requested.

Witness the Next Generation of Lawyers

Local attorneys, judges, law students and paralegals are needed to score the regional high school mock trial tournaments in February. The Denver Regional Tournament is Feb. 9–10 at the U.S. Bankruptcy Courthouse. Panelists will score the performances of two high school teams trying a civil case involving an accident where a pickup truck and train collided at a crossing in rural Adams County, killing the 17-year-old driver of the truck. Barristers Benefit Ball

It’s time to buy tickets to the annual Barristers Benefit Ball, which will be Saturday, April 28, at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center. This year’s theme is "Zorro." Prices as of Feb. 1: Patron Tables (tables of 10), $3,250; Patron Tickets, $275; Individual Lawyer Tickets, $165; Judicial Tickets, $120; and Young Lawyer/Non-lawyer Tickets, $100. The Colorado Bar Association is looking for nominations for the following awards: Hoagland, Schaetzel, Meadoff, Donahue, and the Pro Bono Coordinator of the Year. Each award honors outstanding leadership in the development, support and ongoing efforts to meet the legal needs of low-income and vulnerable people of Colorado. Nominate attorneys, non-attorneys or law firms. ABA TECHSHOW

Register now to attend the American Bar Association’s TECHSHOW in Chicago. TECHSHOW continues to be the world’s premier legal technology conference and expo.
