IN THE NEWS The Denver Business Journal featured the new Deans’ Diversity Council, and featured Cynthia Hyman, Beto Juárez, Kenzo Kawanabe, Christine Arguello and Damian Arguello in the story. Dan Recht and David Lane were quoted in a Denver Post story as experts on the death penalty. John Shively and Gale Miller shared their expertise with the Rocky Mountain News in a story about the FTC’s request for a preliminary injunction to halt Whole Foods’ planned purchase of Wild Oats. The DBJ feature, "The young guns" profiled "young" attorneys who are breaking out on their own: Brian Budman, Tom Franklin, K.C. Groves, Kari Hershey, Russell Kemp, Brian Popp, Dino Ross and John Zakhem. Also quoted was veteran attorney Ed Flitton. William O’Rourke was mentioned in Bill Husted’s Post column for writing a letter to Mayor Hickenlooper in protest to the outlawing of dogs at popular coffee shops in Cherry Creek. He pleaded: "intercession of our dog-loving, coffee-loving Mayor, to bring common sense and your considerable resources to help resolve this problem." Also mentioned in Husted’s column was Christopher Parent, who advised a local pizza lounge owner to change its name from Pi, to avoid legal troubles from a restaurant in the new Hilton with the same name.
