Annual Fall Workers’ Compensation Update is Oct. 12, 9 a.m.–4:10 p.m., at the Doubletree Hotel, 3203 Quebec St., Denver, CO 80207. This program will discuss new legislation and new proposed rule-making to ensure that you are prepared when the changes go into effect. New to the program is a practical segment on how to draft letters to medical doctors — learn to ask the right questions and get the information you need the first time. In the afternoon, the program splits into two separate tracks; one will emphasize the basics in workers’ compensation law and the other will focus on areas of interest for the experienced attorney. Lawyers League Basketball
Lawyers League Basketball will kick off the 2007–08 season after Thanksgiving, continuing through early March with the division championships. Team captains from last year will be receiving registration and sign-up information by mid-October. Games likely will be played at the University of Denver. The team entry fee is expected to be between $600 and $750, pending final facility and insurance costs. Judicial Nominating Commissions: 22 Vacancies
There are 22 attorney positions vacant on Colorado judicial nominating commissions. The current commissioners’ six-year terms end Dec. 31. Applications are due by Oct. 19. There will be 20 openings on 15 judicial district nominating commissions, and two openings on the Supreme Court Nominating Commission. Annual Red Mass
