2008 Annual Fall Workers’ Compensation Update is Oct. 17, 9 a.m.–4:15 p.m., and is co-sponsored by the CBA Workers’ Compensation Section. Find out about new legislation and new proposed rulemakings directly from the Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation. Then get up to speed on case law and the ICAP update. Finally, enjoy practical and valuable topics on: Medicare set-asides, shoulder conditions and their treatments, and a critical update on the changes to Colorado’s apportionment rules. Tuition is $189 for new lawyers (first two years of practice); $219 for Worker’s Compensation Section members; $249 for DBA members; $279 for nonmembers. Six general credits, including one ethics. This update will be at the Renaissance Denver Hotel, 3801 Quebec St., in Denver.

Second Annual Colorado Statewide ADR Conference is Oct. 24 at the Renaissance Denver Hotel, 3801 Quebec St., in Denver. This conference will feature keynote presenters Horatio (Ray) Lanier, J.D., M.A. and Dennis B. Ross. The Colorado Council of Mediators and Mediation Organizations, the Colorado Judicial Department’s Office of Dispute Resolution, and the Colorado Bar Association’s ADR section continue to work together to produce this program aimed at building a cohesive, strong voice for dispute resolution in Colorado. Tuition on or before Oct. 3 is $129 for Law School/Graduate School Dispute Resolution students; $149 for CBA/CCMO members; $149 for ODR Staff/Contractors; $149 forVolunteer/Staff of nonprofit mediation or RJ program (not a practicing attorney); $189 for nonmembers. Tuition after Oct. 3 is $179 for Law School/Graduate School Dispute Resolution students; $199 for CBA/CCMO members; $199 for ODR Staff/Contractors; $199 for Volunteer/Staff of nonprofit mediation or RJ program (not a practicing attorney); $239 for nonmembers. CSI Colorado: Using Forensic Science is Oct. 31, 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. This program is co-sponsored by the Criminal Law Section of the CBA. This one-of-a-kind forensics investigations program will bring you a most impressive roster of experts from their respective areas of expertise. It also includes success stories from key defense and prosecution counsel in the most recent landmark DNA cases. After this informative program, you will come away with an understanding of the biological and scientific concepts involved with forensic investigations that you must know to serve your clients to the best of your ability. Tuition is $199 for Legal Support Staff of CCBA members; $199 for new lawyers (first two years of practice); $209 for Criminal Law Section members; $239 for CBA/CCDB members; $279 for nonmembers. CLSMD Monthly Meeting

The Colorado Legal Society of Metro Denver monthly meeting is Oct. 13 at noon, at DU Sturm College of Law, 2255 E. Evans Ave., Room 165. Rick Green with Wall Builders will present "Constitutional History and Our Country’s Godly Heritage." Cost is $10. CLE may be provided. Tutors Needed

David Bost runs a tutoring program for inner-city children attending Dora Moore Elementary School (9th and Corona in Denver). The program provides one-on-one assistance to second through fifth graders in reading, writing and math each Tuesday evening of the school year, beginning at 6 p.m. Each tutor is assigned one child for the school year. Law Suit Days

The annual "Law Suit Days" are Oct. 16-17. Members of the DBA Young Lawyers Division will be taking donations on the steps of the City and County Building, 1437 Bannock St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Donate gently used professional clothing, shoes and accessories to help low-income and unemployed community members dress-to-impress for job interviews. NALS Dinner Meeting

Denver District Court Chief Judge Larry J. Naves recently announced the Denver District Court courtroom assignments for the upcoming year. The 2009 courtroom assignments will be effective on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
