Denver County Court Judge Alfred Harrell, left, longtime CHBA member David R. Juarez, Gov. Bill Ritter and Patricia Powell, board secretary for the Colorado Campaign for Inclusive Excellence discussed ways to achieve CHBA’s 2009 goals during the annual banquet, Jan. 31. On Jan. 31, the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association hosted its annual banquet.The 365 attendees included Gov. Bill Ritter, newly appointed U.S. Senator Michael Bennet, newly appointed U.S. District Court of Colorado Judge Christine Arguello and Colorado Supreme Court Justices Michael Bender and Alex Martinez. Meshach Rhoades, the organization’s incoming president, outlined the CHBA’s 2009 mission, which includes increasing the association’s involvement in pro bono efforts, partnering with legal aid and other public interest organizations to create a legal nexus between the CHBA and the Hispanic community, and focusing on pipeline, judicial appointments and public policy initiatives.
The DBA Past Presidents gathered Feb. 26 for their annual dinner at the Brown Palace to celebrate their tenures as DBA presidents. Immediate Past President Elsa Martinez Tenreiro was welcomed into the fraternity/sorority by Past President Paul Chan presenting her with a past president lapel pin.
