Advanced Elder Law Institute 2010—Elder law practitioners face an increasingly complex regulatory and legal environment where simple actions can have unintended complications.  Explore the development and ramifications of new rules and regulations on Dec. 2 and 3. The Advanced Elder Law Institute will provide you with the insight and information you need to protect, advise, and communicate with your clients.

Tuition ranges from $199 to $329, depending on membership status. Eleven general credits, including five ethics. Webcast also available. 

Legal Ethics:  Hypotheticals for the Real World—Hypothetical fact patterns representing legal ethics situations frequently faced by Colorado attorneys, both litigators and non-litigators, will be discussed on Dec. 9. You will receive the critical guidance necessary to make the right choice when facing one of these common legal ethics problems. 

Tuition ranges from $149 to $209, depending on membership status. Four general CLE credits, including four ethics. Webcast also available. 

A Special Presentation by National Speaker Sean Carter—Sean Carter introduces a new form of CLE—comic legal education—Dec. 22. He combines substantive legal knowledge with side-splitting humor to create his own special potion of “lawghter.”  Learn how to avoid the most common ethical pitfalls faced by lawyers and how to alleviate the stress of practicing law.

Legal Ethics Issues for Litigators—Litigators encounter unique and challenging legal ethics issues that are not typical of transactional and other types of law practices. Attend this informative program on Dec. 1 and find out how to indentify common problems and resolve them before they become career threatening! This course will guide you through the “minefields,” giving practical advice that will help you steer clear of problems.

Lawyers League Basketball

The league will kick off its 2011 Season on Jan. 6.The team entry fee is $650. Mock Trial Kicks Off Spring

The Denver Regional High School Mock Trial Tournament is Feb. 11 and 12 at the Denver City and County Building. Two teams will advance to the state tournament held at Adams County Justice Center on March 11 and 12. DBA members are invited to score or judge one or more rounds.
