Colorado Senior Law Handbook

"What can I do if my social security benefits are denied?"
"What does a living will include?"
"How can I plan my estate and pass it on to my family?"

The Colorado Senior Law Handbook is written by attorneys from the Colorado Bar Association as a consumer-oriented guide addressing these and many other issues facing Colorado's older citizens. Eleven informative chapters address issues such as age discrimination, protecting against fraud, grandparents rights and employment issues.

The book helps seniors understand, in plain English, the pros and cons of supplementary health insurance, insurance for long term care and how to compare and choose policies. Information about Medicare and Medicaid in addition to what they will and won't provide is written in easy-to-read detail. There are detailed resource lists of agencies and services that readers can use to obtain information and assistance. Glossaries at the end of every chapter explain important legal terms.

Specific chapters address the complicated details of Social Security, pensions, public assistance programs and veterans' benefits. Sections of the Senior Law Handbook provide information on wills and estate planning, how to transfer assets, choose or revoke a power of attorney or create a tax-free gift rather than an inheritance. The handbook was compiled by the Colorado Bar Association's Community and Civic Affairs SubCommittee of the TruSection and the Legal Problems of the Elderly Forum Committee.

You can order the Colorado Senior Law Handbook by calling the CLE in Colorado office at (303) 860-0608 or (800) 860-2531. Cost is only $10.
You can also view the book online.
