The Greenbook Initiative (El Paso County, Colorado)
El Paso County is one of six pilot sites in the nation selected by the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges to develop a program to improve the local services provided to families facing both domestic violence and child maltreatment. The Greenbook Initiative -- officially titled "Effective Intervention in Domestic Violence and Child Maltreatment Cases: Guidelines for Policy and Practices," offers a comprehensive set of responses for child welfare workers, domestic violence advocates, and family court judges. These responses are designed to increase safety for battered women and their children.
Using the Greenbook's guiding principles of safety and stability for battered women and their children, El Paso County is joining forces with domestic violence service providers, child protection services, courts and others, to create a network of collaborating community agencies positioned to provide individualized and culturally competent services.
