Chris Buckman, of Sedgwick James reported on the recent acquisition of the Bar endorsed insurance carrier, COREGIS, by G.E. Capital Services. Chris reported that the management team at COREGIS will remain largely intact and that with the additional financial strength brought by G.E. Capital Services, COREGIS' A.M. Best rating has improved to A++, Class 15.

Michael Mihm reported that the results from the surveys of the committee members indicated that there were few or no complaints about COREGIS from the Bar Association members and that the membership seems pleased by the Bar endorsed program to this point.

Robin Beattie and John Wheeler reported concerning the malpractice prevention seminars that have been scheduled for early next year. Judge James Casebolt, of the Colorado Court of Appeals, has agreed to be the chair of the program and assist with recruiting speakers. The malpractice prevention seminars will take place in Grand Junction at the Hilton Hotel on Friday, January 16, 1998, in Denver at the Holiday Inn near I-70 and Pena Boulevard, on Friday, January 23, 1998, at the Sheraton in Colorado Springs on Friday, January 30, 1998, and at the University Holiday Inn in Ft. Collins on Friday, February 6, 1998.

Heather Burkham and Reba Nance then reported on the outreach program to the local and specialty bar associations. The committee has created a Speakers' Bureau to provide speakers on malpractice prevention and risk management issues for various CLE programs put on by the various local and specialty bar associations. A letter has been prepared under the signature of Chuck Turner, Reba Nance and Michael Mihm to go out to the chairs of the various committees informing them of this program. We have already scheduled a speaker for a program in Colorado Springs.

Heather Burkham and Robin Beattie reported on Whoops. Heather has the materials necessary for the Whoops through the first of the year.

The chair noted the absence of Dave Little, the immediate past chair of the committee, who was apparently in trial. The Committee would like to thank Dave for his years of fine service to the committee as chair.

There being no further business, the Committee adjourned.
