Present at the last meeting of this millennium were: Christopher Buckman, John Wheeler, Jerry Pratt, John Phillips, Michael Canges, John Palmeri, Chris Little, Andy Toft, Julie Revers, Chuck Turner, and Robin Beattie.

The committee discussed the following matters:

Malpractice Prevention Checklist: The committee discussed the pros and cons of going forward with the checklists, in light of concerns that the checklists may be used against attorneys as a standard of care, where that is not the intent or purpose and it should not be used for that purpose. The committee also discussed whether a general checklist or more specific checklist is appropriate in light of what the committee is attempting to accomplish. The committee agreed that a more general checklist is appropriate. This project is still a work-in-progress.

Young Lawyers Boot Camp: This project is complete and ready to go. The "Hanging Your Shingle" brochure was reviewed.

2000 Legal Malpractice Prevention Seminar: This is almost ready to go, and the publicity for this is underway. As to whether a peer review is necessary, that decision will be left to the discretion of the co-chairs of the seminar.

Joint Task Force on MDP: This task force's work has just begun and Jerry Pratt reported on the status of this matter and future meetings which are planned.

Whoops!: There appears to be considerable delay in getting this newsletter out. Hopefully the third quarter newsletter will be out shortly. George Meyer has prepared an article for the next newsletter.

CBA Convention - 2000: This will be held between September 8 and 10, 2000, in Keystone. It was agreed that this committee will put on a 1/2 day seminar on the morning of Saturday, September 9, 2000, and Robin Beattie will provide this information to the Convention Committee.

There being no other matters to discuss, the meeting was adjourned until the next meeting, on January 12, 2000.
