New Industry Guide for Construction Industry Released

The IRS is pleased to announce the release of a newly revised edition of the Construction Industry Guide (formerly known as the Audit Technique Guide for Construction). The guide was developed by IRS staff who have substantial expertise in construction industry tax issues. This comprehensive publication contains new and revised information on tax compliance issues relating to the construction industry, including: employment responsibilities long-term contracts financial versus tax accounting methods homebuilder/developer issues Several new chapters have been added to include an updated overview of the construction industry, look back interest, miscellaneous tax issues, alternative resolution, and how to electronically file and pay business taxes. Feedback was obtained from a number of industry associations and was incorporated in the final version. These materials will be useful to construction industry businesses, tax professionals, and IRS employees who are looking for guidance on industry tax issues.
