ADVISORY: Colorado Bar Association to be Honored by General Assembly for Legal Services to Veterans and Their Families

DENVER—The Colorado Bar Association’s Colorado Lawyers for Colorado Veterans program, which was launched in November 2011 to assist veterans and their families with legal issues such as veterans’ resources, benefits, taxes, housing and family law, will be recognized along with the Veteran Trauma Court by the General Assembly for their service to military veterans and their families on May 2.

WHO: Founders of Colorado Lawyers for Colorado Veterans, including CBA Young Lawyers Division Chair Benjamin E. Currier of Miller & Steiert, P.C., CBA President-elect Mark Fogg of COPIC Insurance and John Vaught of Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell.

WHAT: The Colorado Senate will hear the resolution recognizing Colorado Lawyers for Colorado Veterans and the Veteran Trauma Court for their service.

WHERE: The Colorado State Capitol, 200 E. Colfax Ave., on the Senate floor.

WHEN: 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2.

WHY: To recognize the CBA’s work to close the gap in access to justice for veterans and their families by creating Colorado Lawyers for Colorado Veterans. The program offers these people a monthly opportunity to meet with an attorney at no charge in cities across the state. Additionally, attorneys volunteer to further assist veterans and families who need further assistance and they do so pro bono.
