Mentor/Mentee Program

DILP oversees the Mentorship Program which pairs first-year law students with experienced attorneys (who may or may not be diverse attorneys themselves) who introduce them to real-life experiences associated with working in the legal profession and who guide and encourage them through law school.

The Mentor Program is designed to:

  • Promote the value of cultural diversity
  • Assist with the transition into practice
  • Provide networking opportunities in the legal profession

Studies performed by the American Bar Association have documented the effectiveness of mentoring programs, especially as they relate to the professional development of diverse attorneys.  The Mentorship Program is one of DILP's most successful programs and has helped numerous diverse attorneys with the transition from law school to practice.  The program is done in concert with the University of Colorado School of Law, the University of Denver College of Law, the Denver and Colorado Bar Associations, and many specialty bar associations, including:

  • The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Colorado
  • Colorado Hispanic Bar Association
  • Colorado Indian Bar Association
  • Colorado Lesbian and Gay Bar Association
  • Sam Cary Bar Association
