Networking/Partnership Meetings

COLO SPRINGS:  Because of the Labor Day weekend, the September meeting has been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 10.  Steve Libhart with Zakhem Atherton, LLC, and Jamie Sudler with the Office of Attorney Regulation will tell you everything you need to know to take credit cards for retainers, fees, and disbursements.  You will learn where to go to get a credit card account, how much it will cost, what equipment you will need, and the logistics of getting the money into your account.  Additionally, they will cover the ethics of taking credit cards - including whether (and under what circumstances) you can charge the processing fee to the client and other common ethical situations regarding credit cards. — The October 1 meeting will feature another round of Professionalism Vignettes.  Designed and produced by the CBA Professionalism Committee, each vignette presents one or more professionalism issues encountered by lawyers and judges in offices, conference rooms, and courtrooms.  Several vignettes will be shown, followed by a light-hearted discussion on issues facing lawyers today.  One CLE ethics credit will be available.

The Solo/Small Firm Section partnership meetings are a great networking opportunity, as well as a practice management and technology discussion forum.  The meetings are open to all CBA members, not just Solo/Small Firm Section members, the sponsoring entity.  A CBA staff member is almost always in attendance.  CLE credits are routinely offered, although sometimes there is no formal agenda, and no RSVP is required.  We encourage you to think about and prepare questions or ideas to present to the group.  Don't hesitate to e-mail a contact person to suggest a CLE topic and/or speaker!

Meetings are currently held in five locations (dates are subject to change; however, they will occur as scheduled unless prior notice has been sent to the CBA membership via e-mail.  Please check this website on a regular basis):
