*** Pro Bono Spotlight
Metro Volunteer Lawyers needs an attorney for a post-decree case in Douglas County for a client who needs to collect maintenance, which her ex-spouse hasn't paid for more than a year. The client used this money to pay for health insurance, and now isn't able to complete her chemotherapy treatment because she can't pay for insurance. If you are interested in helping this client, contact Patricia Trujillo at (303) 866-9307 or patt@denbar.org.

*** Bench-Bar Brown-Bag
The Bench-Bar Committee will be hosting a brown-bag lunch on Thursday, Dec. 6, noon–1:45 p.m., at the City and County Building Law Library, 1435 Bannock St. The topic will be “Professionalism in the County Court: Some Judges’ Perspectives,” and will be presented by Hon. Andrew Armatas, Hon. Jay Breese, Hon. Clarisse Gonzales and Hon. Alfred Harrell Jr. Two ethics credits requested. Cost is $15 for DBA members and $20 for non-members. RSVP by noon on Dec. 5 to (303) 860-1115, ext. 727, or lunches@cobar.org (specify the event).

*** Seniors Holiday Party
The DBA Seniors Committee Holiday Party will be Friday, Dec. 14, noon, at the DBA Offices, 1900 Grant St., ninth floor. Enjoy a hot buffet and holiday fun, and catch up with friends and colleagues. RSVP to Tara Miller, tmiller@cobar.org, and send a check for $12 to the DBA, Attn: Tara Miller, 1900 Grant St., Ste. 900, Denver, CO 80203.

*** DBA Awards
The DBA Awards Committee, chaired by past-president Liz Starrs, is seeking nominations for the following awards: DBA Award of Merit, DBA Volunteer Lawyer of the Year, DBA Young Lawyer of the Year, and Judicial Excellence. Please submit a brief statement (e-mail preferred) with the name, award and summary of why that person deserves the honor to Stacy Chesney, schesney@cobar.org. Nominations are due Jan. 15. Click here for more details about all of the awards.

*** Effective Mediation Strategies for Litigators
Although most mediation programs target mediators, this program is designed for litigators. This CBA–CLE training is this Friday, Nov. 16, 9 a.m.–3:45 p.m. It will teach you how to switch gears from litigation mode to mediation mode. Register online: Effective Mediation Strategies for Litigators
