*** Create Smiles for Needy Children in Denver Not every child will have a backpack and school supplies as they head off to school this fall. *** Martinis, Law and Fiction The Denver Press Club and the Colorado & Denver Bar Associations have teamed up to present a panel discussion by lawyers who have written novels: “The Lawyer as Novelist.” Join us Wednesday, Aug. 9, for a literary evening that mixes martinis, law and fiction at The Denver Press Club, 1330 Glenarm Pl. The panelists are Baine Kerr (Wrongful Death), John Dicke (Proof Evident), Manuel Ramos (Brown on Brown) and Mimi Wesson (Chilling Effect). Wick Downing will moderate the discussion. A cocktail hour is from 6 to 7 p.m. (the drink special will be the Lemon Drop Martini), and the panel discussion will run from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Copies of the authors’ books will be available for sale.
