***GET YOUR LEGISLATIVE UPDATE FOR THE NEW YEAR
Be the first on your block to hear about the highlights (and lowlights) from the session that recently concluded. Join Michael Valdez, CBA Lobbyist, on Tuesday, June 21, noon–1 p.m., at the DBA offices, 1900 Grant St. 9th floor, for a recap of the 2005 legislative session. The program is designed to provide a summary of new legislation that might impact your practice; in addition, hear stories not printed in the paper that alone are worth the price of admission! Cost is $15 for DBA members and their support staff; $25 for non-members. One General CLE credit. To register, call (303) 860-1115, ext. 727 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
***GREAT JOB! “ROLL OUT THE BARRELS” RESULTS
Your efforts with the CAN Committee’s “Roll Out the Barrels” food drive resulted in 5,185 lbs. of food and $6,766 collected. This means the Food Bank of the Rockies will be able to provide more than 34,400 meals to people in our community. See the July/August issue of The Docket for a list of participants. Thank you for all you do!
***JOB OPENING IN THE AG'S OFFICE
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking a first assistant attorney general in its homicide assistance and capital crimes unit. Deadline to apply is June 24. For more information and to apply, go to http://www.ago.state.co.us/JOBLIST/ATTYLIST.HTM.
***CELEBRATE DIVERSITY WITH JUSTICE MARTINEZ
Join colleagues on Wednesday, June 22, 5–7 p.m., at the Magnolia Hotel, 818 17th St., for a reception celebrating the diversity of Denver-area summer associates and new attorneys, with special guest, Justice Alex J. Martinez of the Colorado Supreme Court. Refreshments and light hors d’oeuvres will be served; no RSVP necessary. This event is sponsored by the CBA Diversity in the Legal Profession Committee and Denver Area Legal Recruitment Association (DALRA) member firms. Questions? Contact Julie Carroll at (303) 295-8076.
***E-MAIL, NETWORKS, SOFTWARE … DO YOU KNOW HOW THEY ALL WORK TOGETHER?
Find out at the DBA’s “Introduction to Technology Law” CLE on June 23. The program covers how e-mail, websites and software are developed and implemented; computer networks and protocols; drafting and negotiating software and other information technology contracts; open source software licensing; and a look at the federal technology transfer process.
