Food Drive 2011

CBA Litigation Section Signs on as the Statewide Sponsor of Bar Association Food Drive

Co-Sponsored by the CBA Litigation Section and the DBA Community Action Network

For the fourth year in a row the CBA Litigation section signs on as the statewide sponsor.  They are encouraging out-state law firms to make online contributions or to support their local food banks.  The council made a $5,000 contribution to the statewide food bank to kick off the drive.

Over the last several years, this two-week drive has provided close to 100,000 meals and more than $37,000 for the Food Bank of the Rockies.

You can always drop off your own barrel of food to you local food bank. Below is a listing of Food Banks throughout Colorado.

  1. Southern Colorado – Based in Colorado Springs “Care and Share Food Bank” is a southern Colorado-based not-for-profit (501(c)3) food bank affiliated with America's Second Harvest national network of food banks. Through a comprehensive food acquisition system, Care and Share acts as southern Colorado's sole food bank for locally and nationally donated and purchased food.
  2. Food Bank of the Rockies – Metro and Northern Colorado, including the Western Slope — Fighting Hunger. Feeding Hope.  Food Bank of the Rockies partners with over 1000 local shelters and kitchens. In 2007, FBR Last year, distributed over 22 million pounds of food!

  3. Weld County Food Bank – Greeley WFB collects, stores, and processes food to distribute it to low-income people. We glean food from manufacturers, farmers, distributors, grocers and community food drives in order to make it available to hungry people in our community. From this site in Greeley, and 3 other sub-distribution sites across the County, the food is distributed directly to hungry people as well as to 112 local non-profit agencies.
  4. Food Bank of Larimer County – Ft. Collins While food and financial donations can be quantified, the impact they have on the lives of hungry people is immeasurable. The generosity of our supporters enables the Food Bank for Larimer County to provide not only nutritious food, but relief and hope to people in need. Thanks to the many food, financial and in-kind donations, the Food Bank provided more than 5.6 million pounds of food to people in need in 2007.
  5. Boulder/Broomfield Community Food Share: Working through 70 member agencies, Community Food Share efficiently delivers more than four million nutritionally balanced meals each year, and serves as a safety net for those who are hungry in Boulder and Broomfield Counties. Also, as part of the America's Second Harvest network, Community Food Share can provide four meals for each dollar contributed.
