LARIMER COUNTY BAR ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
Tuesday, July 11, 2006
Bluebird Café

ATTENDING: Daniel Muffly; David Johnson; Cathy Vlasak; Ian McCargar; Heather Zadina; Jennifer Rice; Richard Gast; Cindi Hendrix

CALL TO ORDER: Mr. Muffly called the meeting to order at 7:05 a.m.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Mr. Gast circulated his reports, assuring us that the cash situation was temporary and not a cause for concern. The YLD line item on the budget will remain blank. Mr. McCargar will email to Mr. Gast a specific figure for Library budget items as soon as the Library Committee pulls its head out of a book and pays attention to the Thomson West proposal.

BOARD OF GOVERNORS: Mr. Starr was absent. Ridiculed in absentia for going to Europe instead of joining us for breakfast.

YOUNG LAWYERS: Ms. Rice reported YLD has elected new officers, is considering resurrecting the mythical wine/cheese event (now known as the "John Frey wine thing"), has scheduled a Call-a-Lawyer event for August 9, 2006, and may undertake an update of the Practice Manual.

PROFESSIONALISM COMMITTEE: No report. Committee dormant until Spring.

PRO BONO PROGRAM: Ms. Zadina introduced us to Ms. Hendrix, and informed us that she quelled the mob at a recent session. Mr. Johnson generously offered his 2-drawer filing cabinet as a donation to the program. What a guy. Ms. Zadina requested and received approval to issue a courtesy letter to those on the waiting list.

LIBRARY: No report. Library Committee is taking advantage of summer reading programs and avoiding the Thomson West proposal.

FALL TERM DAY: Mr. Gast confirmed that the Stonehouse Grill has been reserved for the evening festivities. Ms. Rice reports that Mr. Sloniker is prepared to provide entertainment and will be requesting a deposit for the evening. The Committee approved evening event financial arrangements as follows: $10 per members and guests, cash bar. Mr. Johnson requested that Ms. Vlasak beat the email drums to encourage early sign-up for the golf event. 20 4-member teams gets us a shotgun start. CBA President will attend the business meeting, same old same old.

CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS: Ms. Lonowski was absent. Ridiculed in absentia. Someone suggested we sponsor a CLE on David Johnson’s World.

OTHER BUSINESS: Some discussion of downsizing the Library budget in light of usage statistics provided during the Retreat.

WHEREUPON, the meeting adjourned at 7:55 a.m.
