Summary: Join us for a discussion of “appropriate” government official notification of federal class action settlements under the Class Action Fairness Act, 28 U.S.C. 1715. Following an overview of the statutory notice requirements by Lila Bateman of Morrison and Foerster, Andrew McCallin, First Assistant Attorney General, Consumer Protection Section, will provide a government official’s perspective on those requirements, including what the Attorney General’s office does with CAFA notices when it receives them and the relationship between private class actions and AG consumer protection efforts. Matthew Pohl of Class Action Administration, Inc. will also be on hand provide a professional notice administrator’s perspective on CAFA official notice requirements.
