*** Davis Award Nominations Sought
Nominations are invited for the 2009 Richard Marden Davis Award, to honor attorneys under the age of 40 who have demonstrated excellence as a lawyer and leadership in Denver’s civic, educational and charitable activities. The award was established by Davis Graham & Stubbs, the family of Dick Davis, and the Denver Bar Foundation in 1992 to recognize successful and community-minded young attorneys in private and public practice, and to inspire new members of the Denver legal community. The 2008 Davis Award recipient was Mari Newman of Killmer, Lane & Newman. Nominations are due Sept. 1. *** Hit the greens! DBA Seniors Golf Tournament
The DBA Seniors Committee annual golf tournament is Wednesday, July 22, at the Homestead Golf Course, 11500 W. Hampden Ave. An informal lunch is at noon, with tee-off around 1 p.m. Cost is $50, which includes greens fees, cart, prizes and lunch. *** School Supply Drive starts next week: sign up now to help kids get ready for school!
Sign up your firm now to collect donations for the DBA Community Action Network’s annual School Supply Drive, July 20–31. Backpacks filled with donated supplies will be handed out on Sunday, Aug. 9 to children in need while they enjoy a free day at the Denver Zoo. CAN hopes to fill more than 300 backpacks. *** Free CLE Movie Night "Inherit the Wind," July 28 from 6 to 9 p.m.
The program will offer pizza, beverages and a chance to network with peers. Professor Heidi Boerstler will be speaking on "Rules to Transform your Career" prior to the start of the movie.
