DU Mock Interviews
The University of Denver, Sturm College of Law is hosting two Mock Interview Days for law students on Wednesday, August 27th, and Thursday, August 28th. The purpose of the Mock Interview Days is to provide students with an opportunity to refine their interviewing skills before Fall Recruiting and On-Campus Interviews begin. Volunteer interviewers may sign up for either Wednesday or Thursday and for one of the following two-hour time periods: 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., or 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Each volunteer interviewer will meet with four students for 30-minute intervals. If you are interested in participating as a mock interviewer, please RSVP by Wednesday, August 6th by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. Your investment of time and energy in this program will assist DU in equipping our students with the skills necessary to compete in today's legal job market.
DU Mentorship Program
The University of Denver, Sturm College of Law currently has a goal of pairing each of the approximate 300 incoming first-year law students with a mentor in the legal community. That’s why we are asking you to sign up for the LP Mentor Program. You do not have to be a DU alumnus to participate and the time you spend with a law student can really make a difference in his or her legal education. The annual CBA/YLD Fundraiser includes a silent auction and a tasting of beers from local Colorado breweries. This year’s event will benefit Family Tree, a local non-profit organization helping families and youth in crisis since 1976. Information about location will follow but mark your calendars now. Every year, the CBA/YLD puts on a CLE program geared to newly admitted attorneys. This year’s program will include speakers on professionalism, trial advocacy, ethics and career services. Stay tuned for more information on how to register for this great program.
SUMMER MOUNTAIN BIKING TRIPS
The CBA/YLD continues to schedule its mountain biking day trips this summer. Rides are suited for riders of all skill levels. All those interested in meeting other young lawyers for casual bike rides may contact James Garts by email at email@example.com.
YLD BULLETIN BOARD COMING SOON!
The CBA/YLD will soon be launching its new YLD Bulletin Board. Prior to launch, you will receive detailed information by email as to how the bulletin board will work and the various options that will be available to you. Generally, once up and running, each CBA/YLD member will receive a weekly email containing the bulletin board messages. However, in the event that you do not find the information and contact with others helpful, there will be ways to opt out of this membership benefit. Watch for additional announcements.
NEED SOME PRO BONO HOURS?
The CBA/YLD continues to assist the Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center by providing much-needed assistance in screening potential cases and providing basic information to teens and young adults who need legal services. Young lawyers will have an opportunity to earn pro bono hours while serving the community. All volunteers receive training and are scheduled to work an approximate 3-hour shift.
