*** Pro Bono Spotlight
Metro Volunteer Lawyers needs an attorney to assist a client in Adams County file for guardianship of her disabled daughter. The client’s daughter understands when you speak to her, but is unable to respond. If you are able to assist this client, contact Patricia Trujillo at (303) 866-9307 or
patt@denbar.org.

*** CLE —
Medicaid: Recognizing the Potential Hazards in Your Practice, July 14
Understand the potential landmines Medicaid can create in seemingly routine matters. It’s important for attorneys to know what not to do because many transactions can potentially impact their clients years later.

*** A Letter From Afar…
Read about how one former Denver law school student influenced her new community and why her time at Metro Volunteer Lawyers inspired her to do so.
Check it out in the June issue The Docket.

*** CLE: Elder Law Basic Skills, July 30 — Expand and Build Your Practice with the Fundamentals of Elder Law
At this program, learn exactly what an elder law attorney does. Acquire an understanding of financial powers of attorney, guardianships/conservatorships, how Medicare and Medicaid work, and more.

*** Question of the Month: What would you say to someone who is thinking about becoming a lawyer?
Send your response to
leonamartinez@cobar.org, using the subject line “Q of the Month.” All CBA members can respond to this and future questions related to lawyers, the law, and the legal profession. Names or identities of people responding will not appear in print. Questions and responses also can be found on “The Learned Lawyer."

*** Book: 2009 Annual Survey of Law
The Annual Survey of Law provides Colorado practitioners with comprehensive updates on new case law, as well as legislative, administrative and regulatory developments from 2009.
