The Joint Defense Agreements to be addressed in this session are those agreements between defense counsel on behalf of their clients in civil litigation. This program will review issues with joint defense agreements, including professional conduct rules and statutory provisions regarding communications with clients, the attorney-client privilege, the attorney work product doctrine, and conflicts of interest.

*** Denver County Court Judicial Vacancy — Deadline Aug. 13
The Denver County Court Judicial Nomination Commission is accepting applications from qualified attorneys to fill the vacancy for Denver County Court Judge created by the retirement of Judge Herbert Galchinsky. Applicants for the position, which currently pays $152,445 per year plus benefits, must be qualified electors of Denver at the time of application and licensed Colorado attorneys with a minimum of five years practicing law. The original and eight copies of the completed application must be filed with the Denver County Court Presiding Judge's office no later than Friday, Aug. 13 at 5 p.m. The application is available online.

DirectWomen is a program supported by the American Bar Association and hosts a two-day Institute, Feb. 9–11 in New York City, with discussions about key issues facing current and future directors. The sessions are led by experts from the boardroom, academia and legal practice and provide networking opportunities with alumnae, firm consultants and award winning women directors. The organization plans to select 20 women to attend the fourth annual DirectWomen Board Institute. Past members include general counsel of major companies with significant board experience, as well as corporate lawyers, litigators and academics with significant board and corporate governance experience.
