The DBA Public Legal Education Department needs instructors for the “Doing Your Own Divorce” clinics that take place the third Wednesday of each month from noon to 1:30 p.m., at 303 W. Colfax Ave. The clinic is informational only and will cover divorce procedures and forms, child custody, child support, maintenance and property division. This public-service program is presented by attorneys of the DBA, in partnership with the Denver District Court, the Pro Se Resource Center and by the Office of the Family Court Facilitator. Nominations are invited for the 2010 Richard Marden Davis Award, to honor an attorney under the age of 40 who has demonstrated excellence as a lawyer and leadership in Denver’s civic, educational and charitable activities. The award was established by Davis Graham & Stubbs, the family of Dick Davis, and the Denver Bar Foundation in 1992 to recognize successful and community-minded young attorneys in private and public practice, and to inspire new members of the Denver legal community. The 2009 Davis Award recipient was Monica Marquez, Deputy Attorney General, State Services Section, Office of the Attorney General. Nominations are due Sept. 1. Ron Nemirow and Nike Fleming will discuss the ethical and professional liability problems arising when lawyers interview potential witnesses and prepare them to testify in the courtroom or in deposition.
