*** New Mock Trial state champ
Out of 22 finalist teams from around the state in the CBA High School Mock Trial Tournament, Lakewood High School took first place during the final round against defending state champs, William Jackson Palmer High School of Colorado Springs. A special thanks goes to more than 80 teams that participated this year, and to all the volunteers and coaches who helped make it happen. Also, thanks for the CBA Litigation Section for its financial support. See you in the fall!

**** CLE: Water Rights and Water Resources of The Arkansas River Basin in Colorado, Friday, March 26
Attend this first program of a series related to the major river basins in Colorado. It is designed for all professionals in the water rights arena: attorneys, engineers, expert witnesses, water resources managers and others who wish to practice in the Water Court for Water Division 2.

*** Pro Bono Awards — Nominations due March 30
Who in the Colorado legal community has had a long-term dedication to pro bono work? Who is a pro bono model for others? Who contributes to legal services for the indigent and innovates programs? Through March 30, the CBA is accepting nominations for these awards and for the pro bono coordinator of the year. Look here to learn more about the awards.

*** The Colorado Lawyer is Seeking Requests for Proposal for October 2011 Special Issue
Is your CBA section or committee or Colorado legal organization interested in creating a special issue? The Colorado Lawyer will devote one issue in 2011 to a single law-related topic and is seeking requests for your special issue proposal. The special issue comprises five to six substantive law articles, one of which should be ethics-related. Emphasis is on the practical and procedural, rather than the theoretical or philosophical. Articles are not editorials and do not advocate an opinion or position, unless presented in a point/counterpoint format. To request information about submitting a special issue proposal, write to leonamartinez@cobar.org using the subject line “Special Issue Proposals.”

*** CLE: Truths and Untruths — An Encore: A Practical Look at Ethics, Wednesday, March 31
Join Judge Kim Goldberger as he engages you in a highly interactive presentation on his practical look at ethics in your professional practice. It is an entertaining mixture of topical and insightful looks into the issues of truth and lying as demonstrated through his video and audio clips, and involves you in a discussion of ethics in the practice of law, as well as everyday situations.
