HAPPY EARTH DAY!

*** CLE: The Ethics of Representing a Diminished Capacity Client, Monday, April 26
Get answers to questions about representing a client who is or may be incapacitated, no matter the practice area. The typical attorney/client relationship may not be possible — find out how that can impact your ethical obligations.

*** Transitions: Closing, Selling or Phasing Out of a Law Practice, Tuesday, April 27 — Webcast
Attorney Regulation Counsel John Gleason and CBA Law Practice Management Director Reba Nance team up at noon on Tuesday, April 27 for this Transitions Committee program. Discussion includes the ethical and practical/logistical/business aspects of either closing, selling or phasing out of a law practice. The CBA will present this program via live webcast (the in-person program is sold out). The cost is $15 for CBA members and $25 for nonmembers. One CLE ethics credit approved. To register, e-mail lunches@cobar.org or call (303) 860-1115, ext. 727.

*** Team Wheels of Justice Kick-off Party
Kick off the Wheels of Justice training season downtown at The Celtic Tavern, 1801 Blake St., May 20, 6-8 p.m. Enjoy great food, beer, wine and fun with your family and friends. Learn strategies for fundraising and hear from The Children’s Hospital doctors on how The Courage Classic ride in July greatly impacts them. RSVP by May 12 to drichardson@cobar.org. To sign up for the ride, go to www.wheelsofjusticecycling.org.

*** McGraw-Hill mails out 2011 Colorado Legal Directory verification forms in May
Verify your information for your free listing in the 2011 edition of the directory, scheduled to be released in November 2010. Please return the form, even if the information shown in your notice is correct. If no response is received by June 1, listings will show your address on file with the Colorado Supreme Court. Attorneys practicing out-of-state and inactive attorneys will be listed by request only. Questions? Contact Lara Moore at (303) 584-6729 or lara_moore@mcgraw-hill.com.

*** Authors Wanted
The Colorado Lawyer is seeking topic ideas and authors for 2011 “point/counterpoint” articles. In addition, we need authors who can specifically address the topic “Court of Appeals Opinions Not Selected for Official Publication.” Contact Coordinating Editor Fred Burtzos at fred.burtzos.gdz0@statefarm.com for more information. Policy information about opinion articles and writing guidelines are available.

*** Need assistance with Casemaker and a CBA staff member isn’t available?
Representatives trained on Casemaker are available to assist you by e-mailing the Casemaker Helpline at helpdesk@lawriter.net or calling toll-free (877) 659-0801, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. EST. For after-hours assistance, the Casemaker Answering Service has non-expert representatives answering the calls with an outline of questions and responses. If there is an emergency during off-hours (emergency usually consists of the system or entire books being down), then IT and Support Staff are notified. For more information, click here.

*** CLE: Searches, Seizures, Statements and Other Top 40 Hits by Judge Fred Rodgers, Thursday, May 6

Find "Filler" Items to Score Free Shipping at Amazon

One of my favorite websites for shopping is Amazon.com. I like it because it features honest reviews written by real people. You can also see a picture of the item, you can peruse a book (look at table of contents, etc.), you can create a wish list and much more.  And they offer free shipping for an order filled by Amazon that is $25 or more. Free is good!

But what if you're $3.99 shy of a $25 order? Admit it — you've probably purchased an additional item for much more than $3.99 just to get up to $25 for free shipping. But there's help! Filler Item Finder and Superfill are two websites tied in with Amazon that will find something sold by Amazon for exactly $3.99! CNet News has written a review of Filler Item Finder and Superfiller. Contact Reba Nance at reban@cobar.org with questions.
