OCTOBER 1999 MEETING AND CURRENT ACTIVITIES
NEXT LUNCHEON MEETINGS
Our next luncheon meetings will address what Colorado and the Federal governments are doing to promote ADR. The first meeting will focus on the federal sector and is tentatively scheduled for January 20. The second luncheon meeting is tentatively scheduled for February 24 and will focus on ADR activities at the Colorado state level. Watch for further information in future CBA/ADR newsletters.
HEALTH CARE LUNCHEON
On September 30th, Leonard Marcus, Director of the Program for Health Care Negotiation and Conflict Resolution at the Harvard School of Public Health presented his perspective on the increasing use of mediation in health care. Following his presentation before about thirty participants, Dr. Marcus met with the CBA/ADR health care study group to further discuss issues involving conflicts between physicians and patients as this group is exploring how such a program may benefit Colorado. We want to thank Ed Dauer and members of his Health Care Study Group as well as John Martin and Susan Demidovich, Co-Chairs of our Education Committee, for putting this fine program together.
On September 24th, members of the CBA/ADR Forum Committee and the Agricultural and Rural Law Section presented an outstanding program on the use of ADR for practitioners dealing with a broad range of issues in Colorado’s rural and agricultural areas. The program was moderated by Bill Baum and
presentations were made by Robert Smith, Karl Kumli, David Tudy, Merrill Shields and Bruce Campbell. A great job by all involved!
