Compliance with Voluntary Lawyer Guidance to Combat Money Laundering
This letter from ABA President Stephen Zack requests your assistance in alerting your members to “Voluntary Good Practices Guidance for Lawyers to Detect and Combat Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing” that the ABA helped develop. These “good practices” provide the best means of combating money laundering and avoiding much stricter federal legislation or regulations on lawyers that could conflict with the confidential attorney-client relationship or force lawyers to violate state bar ethical rules.
