Colorado’s Merit System: The Gold Standard—Wednesday, May 2
Presented by the Joint Judicial Task Force, IAALS, and the Colorado Judicial Institute.

Join panelists Gene A. Ciancio, Hon. Janice B. Davidson, Rebecca Love Kourlis, Malia Reddick, and Theresa Spahn, for a discussion on judicial selection that will include a history and overview of the Colorado merit selection system, how our system compares to others nationally, and ethical dilemmas and challenges when litigating in states with other judicial selection systems. The program is May 2, 9-11 a.m. in CBA CLE large classroom. Two ethics credits applied for; no cost to attend. You may attend in person or via webcast. RSVP here.
A Reflection on a Career in the Justice System with Alex Martinez—Wednesday, May 2
Alex Martinez has worked as a public defender, a trial judge, a Colorado Supreme Court justice, and currently as Denver's Manager of Safety. He will reflect on the practical aspects of the Law Day Theme, “No Courts, No Justice, No Freedom.” One ethics credit applied for. Three former DBA Presidents are training with a professional dancer to compete in a “Dancing with the Stars”-esque competition at the Barristers Benefit Ball on May 5, and their partners will be their spouses.
