Elizabeth Starrs Appointed as Second Judicial District Court Judge
Today Governor John Hickenlooper announced his appointment of Elizabeth Ann Starrs to serve as a district court judge in the Second Judicial District, which covers Denver County. Starrs will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of the Honorable Christina Habas. Her appointment is effective July 13.
U.S. Commerce Department to Open Regional Patent Office in Denver
On Monday, the U.S. Commerce Department announced plans to open a regional Patent and Trademark Office in Denver. The office will function as a hub of innovation and creativity, helping protect and foster American innovation, and adding regional economic growth. In addition to Denver, regional USPTO offices will open in Dallas, Texas and the Silicon Valley, California. Read more here.

This program will focus on the principle briefs of the named parties, representing the major political parties, which were filed simultaneously rather than sequentially, creating a unique opportunity to evaluate how each side independently approached and argued its case. The increase in such claims has led to a flood of consumer fraud cases, enforcement actions by the FTC, and class-action litigation.
