New ABBA Officers Elected
New officers for the Adams/Broomfield Bar Association were elected at the June, 2012 meeting of the bar association. The new officers are:

New Practice Sections
The ABBA has added two new practice sections.
The ABBA Civil Practice Section is chaired by Michael Grills. Mike brings over 20 years of experience handling various civil matters in courts throughout Colorado, an interest in facilitating opportunities for continuing education within the local legal community and a commitment to improving the quality of legal services provided to the public by the ABBA membership. The ABBA Criminal Practice Section is chaired by Jay Tiftickjian. Jay focuses his practice exclusively on DUI and criminal defense. He is AV® Preeminent rated in Martindale-Hubbell, listed in Colorado Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in both DUI and criminal defense, listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers™, is a Life Member of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, and is a former Deputy District Attorney in the Seventeenth Judicial District Attorney's Office. ABBA Criminal Practice Section CLE Program
The ABBA's Criminal Practice Section will be sponsoring a Continuing Legal Education presentation by Abe Hutt. The topic is "Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Fire: Collateral Consequences of Criminal Cases" The presentation will be on Friday, February 24, 2012 at Noon at the Adams County Government Center, Conference Center, Platte Valley River Room B, 4430 South Adams County Parkway, Brighton, Colorado. The CLE only is $10.00 and the CLE with lunch is $20.00 ( your choice of steak, chicken or veggie burrito from Qdoba). ABBA Civil Practice CLE Program
The ABBA Civil Practice Section will sponsor a Continuing Legal Education program, "Win or Lose: What You Need to Know to Preserve Your Client's Rights for Appeal," Presented by Sharlene Aitken, Esq. the presentation will be on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Noon, at the Adams County Government Center, Branter Gulch "A" Room, 4430 South Adams County Parkway, Brighton, Colorado. One CLE Unit will be available at no cost. A box lunch of roast beef, turkey or veggie sandwich is available for $10.00. Seating limited to first 25 registrants. E-Filing Requirements in Probate and Domestic Relations Cases
Effective January 1, 2010 all Probate and Domestic Relations filings must be completed electronically. For more information review Chief Judge Directive 09-06 regarding Probate Cases and Chief Judge Directive 09-07 regarding Domestic Relations cases.
