September 25, 2015 @ noon: Panel Discussion of 2015 Changes to Colorado's Civil Rules: A valuable opportunity to converse with a panel of judges concerning recent changes to the rules affecting pleadings, case management, trial management, disclosure, and discovery in civil cases. Presented by the Honorable District Court Judges Tow, Goodbee, and Warner. This CLE will be held in Platte River Room D at the Adams County Government Center, 4430 South Adams County Parkway, Brighton, CO. Bring your own lunch. Limited to the first 25 RSVPs. September 30, 2015 @ 6pm: CBA President's Visit at The Ranch Country Club located at 11887 Tejon Street, Westminster, CO 80234. Our very own ABBA member, Loren Brown, is this year's CBA President. Cocktail hour begins at 6pm with dinner following at 7pm. The cost is $30 per person with one Ethics CLE to be provided. October 28, 2015 from 9am-4pm: In honor of National Pro Bono Week, the 17th Judicial District Access to Justice Committee is hosting a "Pro Se Day." On that day, we will have "Ask a Lawyer" sessions at the Adams County Justice Center.
We need attorneys to be available to discuss issues in these topics of law:
Small Claims/County Civil Money Cases
Civil Protection Orders
Estate Planning and Administration/Probate
Volunteer attorneys are needed for 90-minute blocks of time during the following time slots on Wednesday, October 28, 2015:
Morning: 9 to 10:30 and 10:30 –noon
Afternoon: 1 to 2:30 and 2:30 - 4 p.m.
This event is free and open to the public on a walk-in basis. Pro se parties will be able to sit down and discuss any of the topics listed above in fifteen minute sessions. Self Help Center staff will be available to print out forms and provide case filing information.
Please consider volunteering for this event! You can sign up for one or more sessions. As a small token of our appreciation in helping us celebrate Pro Bono Week, we will be serving coffee and bagels in the morning and lunch to all volunteer attorneys.
