Nonprofit Legal Assistance Planning Committee

The Nonprofit Legal Assistance Planning Committee is exploring ways to serve the legal needs of Colorado nonprofits which require pro bono legal assistance.  The Committee hopes to create a mechanism for lawyers (primarily transactional lawyers) to provide pro bono assistance to these organizations.  Volunteer opportunities will likely include:  (1) representing nonprofits in legal matters (contract, tax, employment and other issues); (2) providing educational materials and seminars to nonprofits; and (3) serving on nonprofit boards of directors.

The Planning Committee includes representatives from The Colorado Lawyers Committee, Colorado Legal Services, the Colorado Bar Association, Metro Volunteer Lawyers, the Colorado Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel, the Colorado Nonprofit Association, the Community Resource Center, the Colorado Nonprofit Development Center, and Metro Volunteers.  A number of corporate counsel and attorneys in private firms are also involved.

As soon as the volunteer opportunities are available, they will be posted on this website.  In the interim, if you would like to participate on the Planning Committee or want additional information, contact the Chair of the Planning Committee, Peter Schwartz at Davis Graham & Stubbs, peter.schwartz@dgslaw.com, or (303) 892-7381.
