WOMEN’S BAR: Jennifer Rice reported the general meeting and elections for the Women’s Bar is scheduled for April 21, 2004. Two members from the Colorado Women’s Bar Association will be present. A CLE program on assisting non-profit organizations is scheduled for June 9, 2004. This is being sponsored by the Women’s Bar Association.

LEGAL AID: Jennifer Rice gave the report on Legal Aid. There has been 24 new clients since January 2004 but only eight have been placed with attorneys. Five will be referred to Colorado Legal Services. There was a discussion of securing additional funding through grant-writing. Because of software constraints, Ellen Holmes made a request for the purchase of Microsoft Office software for her computer. Randy Starr moved for approval of the Larimer County Bar Association to purchase the software. Ian McCargar seconded the motion and the motion passed.

LIBRARY: Ian McCargar gave the report for the Library Committee. The Library Committee encourages the Larimer County Bar continue to use the library space at the Justice Center. There is concern from the committee that if there is not sufficient use of the library, state judicial may want to take over part of that space.

OLD BUSINESS:

1. Spring Term Day. This year’s term day was viewed as a positive experience and a success. The event was well-attended and fun was had by all who chose to bowl.

2. LCBA Messinger. Cathy Vlasak gave her report. It is anticipated four Messengers will be published this coming year.

3. Raffle Account. Discussion was held on the future of raffles. It was determined the raffle isn’t feasible based on the regulatory red tape we have to go through in order to have a raffle. Discussion focused on the desire to maintain scholarships and funding scholarships. It was determined a donation container would be placed at the ethics seminar for scholarship donations. After further discussion, it was determined the raffle account will be closed after all expenses have been paid out of that account.

NEW BUSINESS:

Retreat. It is the desire of the Larimer County Executive Committee to have a retreat this year. Linda Miller will forward potential dates for the retreat to determine which retreat date will work best for the Executive Committee. The executive calendar proposed by Linda Miller was approved.

Respectfully submitted:

David H. Johnson, Secretary
