Colorado Alliance for Cruelty Prevention
• Kay Dahlinger reported that she and several other CACP members participated in a LINK presentation in Douglas County on September 9, 2005. Approximately 35 professionals attended, including judges, criminal justice professionals, and school professionals.
• Kay reported that she, Diane Balkin, and several other CACP members participated in a LINK training in Summit County. Approximately 35 professionals including judges, animal welfare, and school professionals attended.
• Kath reported that she and Jan Mickish are going to Pagosa Springs on September 30, 2005 to present to the Colorado Municipal Judges Association.
Kath reported that the Dumb Friends League presented the Colorado Bar Association with its annual “Friendship Award” on September 23, 2005. This was in recognition of the Colorado Bar Association’s work in Colorado Alliance for Cruelty Prevention.
Carri King, therapist for Mental Health Corporation of Denver, presented information on animal assisted therapy. She mentioned that she and Corey Price, Dumb Friends League, conducted a program for at-risk youth called the Bark Program. This program involved animal assisted therapy. The program was such a success that they are expanding the program in the coming year.
