This link goes to the ABA website under the Law Practice Management Section.  It discusses the need for a document retention policy that calls for a plan to discard potentially costly and damning documents after an appropriate period of time for both law firms and their corporate clients.  The article outlines a DRP and gives dos and don’ts related to DRP policies.

This link is for a blog on Lawyers USA.  It discusses closing old clients’ files, specifically paper files stored in banker’s boxes.  Like the ABA article, it outlines a procedured for closing files and destroying documents.
