A Guide to Pro Se Divorce (video)

This video is available in libraries across Colorado. It is also available in Spanish (Guia Para Hacer Divorcio Por Si Mismo). This video provides an informational overview of the Colorado divorce (dissolution of marriage) process. The video is also available from local bar associations or may be purchased for $20/video ($30 for a set: one English video, one Spanish video). Although informative on the process, the video cannot provide detailed information on the forms required in any divorce. As a result, individuals seeking to represent themselves (pro se) in their divorce should seek additional information from other sources. These include clinics (see "Doing Your Own Divorce"), handbooks (check with Bradford Publishing for publications helpful to the pro se litigant (303/292-2500) and attorneys. You may choose to represent yourself but it is always a good idea to have an attorney review your paperwork for you before you file with the court.

Doing Your Own Divorce

This clinic is a fast-paced overview of a simple divorce process. Volunteer attorneys provide information on filing for a simple divorce without the assistance of an attorney. The clinic is informational. It covers procedures and forms. It does not cover specific answers to individual questions, nor do participants leave with completed forms. Visit http://www.denbar.org/pubint.htm#legalclin for details of locations, dates and times.

Forms are available at the Colorado Courts web site at: Colorado Domestic Relations Forms online (forms are in .pdf and require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. Download the free Reader at www.adobe.com)
