The Colorado Lawyer publishes an Expert Witness Guide in each issue.  You'll always find this guide right after the CLE advertisements.  This guide is only available in the printed version of The Colorado Lawyer, and currently is not available on our website.

Expert Consulting Services, Inc. (ECS) is a local source for finding expert witnesses in Colorado.  Founded and run by two former litigation attorneys, ECS facilitates the relationship between attorney and expert by providing logistical support and fostering communication.  ECS contracts with its experts to provide specialized administrative and marketing services so that the experts can effectively and efficiently share their expertise with the legal community.  ECS is compensated by its experts for the services ECS provides.  ECS does not charge its legal clients any fees beyond those charged by the experts.  Additional information about the expert services available through ECS is available at www.ecsofcolorado.com.

Reba Nance found an expert witness referral website, http://www.hgexperts.com, that is part of Heiros Gamos, which is a very reputable site.  Heiros Gamos is a consortium of respected international law firms.  It has a searchable database by specialty or by city.  It is the only expert witness site Reba has found that actually has Colorado firms listed by name.  As far as we can see, there is no additional charge for accessing the website or engaging the experts.  Findlaw also has an expert site, but during a recent test, Reba couldn't find an expert in Colorado.  All the Findlaw results listed a "nationwide" expert.

Technical Advisory Service for Attorneys ("TASA") is an expert referral service (for a fee) in business since 1961.  Go to www.tasanet.com for a searchable database of experts by geographic location and by area of expertise.  You can locate experts, consultants and ADR professionals at no charge, UNLESS YOU ENGAGE THEM.  Upon an initial search, this website will not give you the names of the experts, but only the number of experts in Colorado (or, if no experts in Colorado, the number of experts in neighboring states).  It then gives a telephone number to call for the referral, or you can use the Expert Request Form online.  There is a "Fees" page which explains the charge for their services.  It can be found at http://www.tasanet.com/tasagroup_fees.cfm?menu=1
