ABBA’S FAMILY LAW SECTION INFORMATION-SEMINAR

As Lawyers we look to our Bar Associations to provide us with information and support for our law practices, in addition to the camaraderie and volunteer opportunities the Bar can offer. When ABBA hired its first Executive Director, the Bar was poised to provide the services and organization necessary to support its members. Providing the mechanism for meeting with other lawyers who practice in the same substantive area is one of the most important functions a lawyers’ organization can provide.

Several months ago the law firm of Cooper, Tanis & McBain sought to open their monthly educational programs to lawyers outside the firm, and teamed up with Cyndy Ciancio and the ABBA to create a ‘Family Law Section". Each month we seek to offer an educational program with CLE credits, focusing on issues and topics of interest to domestic relations practitioners. Programs have included "Evidence Issues in Family Law", "QDRO’s and Retirement Division", "Step-Parent Adoption", and Perspectives from the Bench". May’s program will be on "Bankruptcy Issues for Family Law Lawyers".

We are providing 1 CLE credit for $15.00, a good deal for lawyers. Most programs take place at the new and beautiful Broomfield Combined Courts. We are looking for topics and speakers for future programs, and hope to make the monthly meeting a worthwhile and interesting experience for family law practitioners in the Adams/Broomfield area. If you have topics or other suggestions, please contact Melody Fuller or Cyndy Ciancio.
