Brent Coan
Steve Suneson

The Financial Institutions Subsection of the Business Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association consists of banking attorneys, financial services attorneys, in-house counsel to financial institutions and other attorneys who have an interest in financial institutions.

The purpose of the Financial Institutions subsection is to promote the educational and professional objectives within the field of law relating to banks, savings and loan associations, credit unions, and other organizations offering financial services and to address other matters of interest to our members.

The Subsection regularly sponsors continuing legal education programs with entities such as Continuing Legal Education of Colorado, Inc. The Subsection also regularly offers C.L.E. lunch and learn programs at the Colorado Bar Association offices during which speakers present topics of interest to our members.

Most of the Subsection C.L.E. programs are for one (1) general C.L.E. credit. The Subsection usually also co-sponsors a half day or full day annual commercial loan documentation CLE program.

The Chair or Co-Chair(s) of the Subsection is selected by vote of the members in June, and serves a two (2) year term. The Chair or Co-Chair(s) is also a member of the Executive Council of the Business Law Section. The Subsection may establish subcommittees on an ad hoc basis to address various issues and problems which arise during the year. The Subsection may also get involved on matters of legislation relating to the regulation and governance of financial institutions in Colorado.
